Got my DPP assignment back core unit 2-- Early Learning but missed D1 out.
Can anyone tell me what to put for D1.
Explain how the curriculum plan meets the needs of All children in the setting.
I was told to put it under a separate heading.

Hi Maisy,
Had my tutor not left my completed Early Learning at her house, I would have it here in front of me. I have looked at what I saved on my computer and I found I'd actually titled it Equality E9 & D1. I started off with 'when planning our curriculum we are aware of children with special needs and then went on to bullit point ways in which we can accomoted them using different resources eg left handed scissors and provide for them within the classroom eg toilet for the disabled, seating visually impaired children in front, etc. then i sub headed be aware of health problems they may have, then bullit ponited that eg provide alternatives at snack time, be aware of allergies, obtain phone no's, staff training etc. Then I sub headed provide for children speaking a different language, bullit ponited again eg interpretor, key words and diagrams etc. Then I sub headed provise a non-stereotypical curriculum and bullit pointed how we did that. Then I did a bit on how we teach children not to discriminate and finished off with a quote. Hopefully this will help. I'm sure you will put this all into your own words. I was quite happy with my grade on this one so I know this is the gist of what they want. I have just signed, first time for a while because I am having a nightmare doing best practice. I am doing parental partnership, struggling with my E criteria. Its the dreaded policies, so if anyone has any suggestions for a settling in policy (we do not have one so its one of my recommendations) I would love to hear from you.

How did we all do  :( :( :( :o

Although I knew I had passed, by letter from one of the tutors, it only became real today when I went to pick up my certificate!!!!!!

4 straight A grades :D :D :D :D

I don't mean to brag but ....... :D

I have copied my cert and had it laminated for my office wall. Even the tutors were impressed with me, I was invited to speak to this years intake as a former student and mentor!!!!!!!!!!

Wow it appears I do know my stuff after all!!!!

I always check the forum so anyone can e-mail for advice etc this year, I have kept a record of all the research done, websites and books used etc and can point anyone in the right direction, if they want!!!!!

Have to say I did refer to ths site on my best practice assignment, using sample policies adapted to suit my setting!!!!

Thanks FSF

I had just arrived back after a night out with my staff. A little too much to drink so I was still buzzing! So I came onto the forum!

Is anyone else doing DPP?
I am doing the Fast Track version. Basically it's a case of 'here's the assignment, off you go'
Suits me in a way as I can get the required qualification for the powers that be to be kept happy.... On the other hand tho - I don't see how writing assignments on
1. Child development (as far as I know kids still develop in much the same way as when I did NNEB!)
2. and 3. policies and planning (been doing both for years as a nanny, childminder and now supervisor of preschool)
and 4. the optional chosen for us of First year og life (er well whay I don't know now I never will...)
are helping to update me since the Chidren Act....
There is a bit of equal ops in there and I guess hte planning one is an update but I should have been updating child protection, proper equal ops, inclusion etc etc.

However having got the first one back with an A I've been jumping up and down yelling 'I got an A I got an A!!!!'

Hello pandemonium. Do you really need to re-take your NNEB?

Hi Pandamonium, I did the APEL DPP last summer. We met up fortnightly if we felt we needed support but were basically left to our own devices, we had to prove we knew what we were doing not attend a class to be taught it. Loads of congratulations on getting an 'A'. :D The word count had me stumped so I got 'E' all the way through the 4 assignments. That said, can I echo Beau and ask why you need to do it? I chose to do it to refresh myself on things.

Well, I've nearly done it now but at the beginning I tried not to do it!
I argued that I had 3 modules of ADCE, NVQ assessor quals and had kept informed thru reading.... ah yes they said but there's this 3 year gap in your work. Yep, you know why? I was at Uni studying Education and Community Studies with Linguistics!
In the end it came down to well, we don't want to commit ourselves, you'd have to prove to Ofsted you were up to date.
My Manager basically said, look it's being paid for, you can do it, just get it done nad you don't have to think about it again.
So, that's what I've done.
It sounds the same as yours... fortnightly tutorials and to be fair, she did give us loads of handouts of guidance and info as we hadn't got many textbooks now! Made me laugh tho that I could still use my Mary Sheridan from 1983, and REALLY chuckled when I revisited my Childcare for Nursery Nurses book - Oh my!!!
Anywa waffling again!
