Thanks for your advice everyone. :D

I have spoken with my sons health visitor again and she has contacted a pre-school for me and booked a place for this september. Although this pre-school is not linked to the primary school he is going to, they are going to take him.

He attends this pre-school from 9am-11.15am, which means i would have to arrange for a childminder to collect him and look after him until 4.30pm

Somehow this doesnt really seem like a better option to what he is doing now! Considering he is at nursery all day (9am-4.15pm) or will the time he is at pre-school be as beneficial as spending all day in a nursery?

This is all so confusing! :o

I just dont know what to do for the best! His keyworker at his nursery has said that he has outgrown the nursery and desperately needs to be at school, but are the 2 hours he is there really going to make a difference?

I wish he was a baby again

I know its a real dilemma.isnt it. Have you visited the preschool and explained your situation. That I sure will begin to tell you if its the right decision.

Obviously getting a good child minder could be beneficial to him as s/he will be able to do that much more with him, but you will need to look at the quality of provision in your area. I should think your health visitor caould help with contacts there.

hi dillydally, i would agree with mundia that a childminder could be a good balance to the morning at pre school.a childminder can provide activities that your son enjoys and that have been planned with his needs in mind. worth some thought. maddy.

Dillydally,
You have such a long time to weigh it all up. No one should be pressurising you to make any decisions straight away. Go and visit the pre school with your son and talk to the staff. I don't know how easy it is in your area to find childminders either. Perhaps you already have someone in mind? Again, go and visit a few and get a feel for them and their homes. I always go with my gut feelings on these sorts of things - trust in your own instincts. If you think these places aren't what you would like for your son then continue to look around.

The only other thing I would say is that I know at this time this seems like a major issue. However, in the greater scheme of things you won't be ruining your sons life if you don't get it quite right at this stage. He is still so young and you are obviously a very caring mum - I'm sure that you'll find something that suits you both eventually. Keep smiling! :)
