Sign 4 Feelings and Behaviour

In Courses and Events

Event Date:
Provider: Bedford Training and Assessment Centre
Location: Bedford

Course Details:

Sign 4 Feelings and Behaviour will support your children to make measurable progress in expressing and managing their feelings and behaviour. Signs such as worried, disappointed and frustrated are taught through stories, songs and activities to help children talk about a wide range of feelings and to understand that although all feelings are understandable and acceptable, not all behaviours are. Recent Ofsted reports have commented on this approach 'The staff introduce children to sign language, where they do simple hand gestures to link to feelings. This helps children to find differing ways to express themselves. Staff understand that children might display unwanted behaviour when they cannot express their complicated feelings.’ Behaviour management signs such as ‘calm down’, ‘share’ and ‘take turns’ are also included in this training package, which has been enthusiastically reviewed and delivered both within the UK and to an international audience. The signs taught are taken from British Sign Language and are compatible with most signing systems in use in the UK. No prior knowledge of sign language is required.
